   Australia’s TGA 1 is advising healthcare professionals and consumers of the potential changes in the sense of taste (taste disturbance) with Andrographis paniculata-containing products.

   The onset of such taste disturbance often occurs after 2 weeks’ use of Andrographis-containing products, but can occur within a shorter timeframe. Data received from the reports received by the TGA have indicated that it can take up to several weeks after stopping the Andrographis product for a patient’s taste to return to normal. Furthermore, there were some cases where patients had not regained a normal sense of taste at the time of reporting.

   I’ve been using Andrographis for over three years, recommended by two Lyme Disease books, for help with the illness and symptoms of chronic lyme. When you can’t be tested for Lyme and you don’t know whether you have or not, and you have most of the symptoms, it’s a good idea to get a doctor who can help you to treat yourself ‘as if’ you have lyme and just see if it helps. Well, it did help and a part of the plan includes Andrographis.

   You can read more about the science and healing uses of andrographis. I have been using it and find that it not only has helped me to feel much better, I also notice an uplifting effect on my mood and energy as well. This product smells and tastes like Andrographis, which is very unpleasant, but in a capsule it is very tolerable. As strong as the herb is, it doesn’t give me headaches and stomach issues either.

   I work with a functional medicine doc, who knows of all the supplements I use regularly and also approves of trying new things. This brand appears to be authentic. For saving money, I recommend the bulk powder from a reputable brand, but it is not easy to swallow at all. It tastes horrible. I usually pinch my nose, a swallow the powder mixed in a quarter cup of water. I just swig it down fast and then drink something tasty after that. The capsules make life so much easier but it does cost more.

   Andrographis may have a variety of health benefits. I started taking it when I read it may possibly promote neurogenesis in the brain, which would be an amazing result if true. It may also have antiviral benefits. I have taken it off-and-on over the last few years, and I can’t say I have noticed any benefit per se, but it may be having an impact.

   This is a mix of regular Andrographis extract combined with standardized extract, creating a powerful supplement.

   The brand claims lab testing, which is good. That is something I always look for.

   I know this supplement from India. Its one of the well known medicine in hindi its called “Kalmegh” its very helpful for multiple things. During cold and flu season this is 100x better than Vitamin C. Andrographis is the one of the ultimate immune booster and could help with inflammation and cold symptoms like runny nose, cough, fever, etc. Great for our whole family, especially when travelling for the holidays. We recommend this one for sure.

   I’m using this to fight multiple myeloma after reading “Andrographolide inhibits multiple myeloma cells..” pub med research article. Cancer markers going down and really hoping this helps targets cancer stem cells as the research possibly suggests. As long as my markers continue to go down or stable I will continue to use.
