Kirsche –
This is the first powdered aloe vera I’ve tried that’s brown, fibrous, and doesn’t gel up. My assumption is that Herbs Botanica is using only the heat dried outer part of the aloe leaves, instead of using freeze dried green leaves and gel, but that’s just a guess. Regardless of the reason, I really don’t care for the taste or texture compared to my usual brand.

So I gave this powdered aloe vera a try because I was curious about adding it to my hair and skin routine, but it didn’t quite work out the way I hoped. Instead of that smooth gel-like texture I was expecting, it turned out pretty inconsistent, with bits of plant matter and kind of brown, which threw me off. I’m a beginner, so it might be something in my application, but I’m not so sure. Either way, it wasn’t as pleasant to use or mix into my DIY treatments as other aloe powders I’ve tried.
I’m still figuring out how to work with it since I’m pretty new to powdered aloe, but so far it feels a bit too rough and wet in texture rather than silky or gelly. It’s not really something I’d reach for again, but maybe if you like that fibrous, more rough feel, it could be worth testing out. For me, it just didn’t quite fit what I was looking for in my beauty experiments.
