- Organic Turmeric Root: Frontier Co-op Organic, Fair Trade Certified Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) is the rhizome (root) of a flowering plant in the ginger family that is native to Southeast Asia and the Indian subcontinent. The rhizomes are extracted and used for various foods, especially in Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines. In grounded form, it adds flavoring to mustards, baked goods, and more.
- Versatile Ingredient: This turmeric root is ground into a powder to both enhance the flavor and bring out a yellowish-gold color. Use some in biscuit mixes, sauces, and mustard, or add some to enhance your latest baked dish. Its golden touch of color brings a bitter flavor to deliver that mustard-like appeal to your table.
- Robust, Bitter Flavor: Turmeric is most commonly linked with curry, especially Indian curry. You can also add it to mustards, pickles, dressings, eggs, and rice. It adds a pungent, bitter flavor to any dish.
- Organic, Fair-Trade Certified: Frontier Co-op Turmeric Root is sourced from India and Nicaragua using organic and non-irradiated methods. Our ground Turmeric is also 100% Kosher and Fair Trade Certified to support farming families through fair prices and direct trade. There are no artificial additives or chemicals used at any stage of growing and manufacturing.
- About Us: Owned by stores and organizations that buy and sell our products, Frontier Co-op has been a member-owned cooperative since 1976. We support natural living and our products are never irradiated or treated with ETO. We’re committed to the health and welfare of the environment and everyone producing and consuming our botanical products.

Plant Ladee –
I use turmeric regularly. This smells like turmeric 😁. The color is a rich earthy gold.
I enjoy using turmeric in cooking and add it to beverages and smoothies. Turmeric’s anti-inflammatory properties have me using it every chance I get along with a bit of Black Pepper
This Turmeric did not disappoint. I will buy again.

Wow, I didn’t know I needed ground turmeric root until now. I used to buy fresh turmeric to juice, but it just didn’t last long, and it was inefficient for me to make fresh juice every day. The ground turmeric tastes so fresh when blended in with other juices. you wouldnt notice the difference. The taste in quality is great, and the color is bright orange. I recommend storing it in a dark container and keeping it away from light and air to hold onto the freshness longer. The size and the amount of ground turmeric is great for the value. Will buy again.

Frontier began using extremely cheap, brown, foil-lined packages a while back that often have pinholes. They used to use heavier, more durable grey packages… are they really saving that much money? At least this bag of turmeric powder wasn’t cakey like the last one.

My daughter introduced me to Frontier. She was a buyer for a group she belonged to. They took orders and bought accordingly in bulk — then when product arrives — it is split up between group members according to their orders. Frontier Co-Op is the best for spices, oils, teas, skin care products, extracts. dried fruit, supplements & nutritional products… The are a NATURAL PRODUCTS COMPANY. This is from their website: Frontier Co-op began as a two-person operation in 1976 in a river cabin in Eastern Iowa. Since then we‘ve grown steadily to become a major supplier to the natural products industry. Our success throughout the years reflects our close harmony with the product needs and the values of our members and consumers. I would have bought directly from them but this product was cheaper on Amazon and shipping is easier on Amazon so I went with them. Sorry, Frontier. But please do check out their website. It’s the real deal in natural food products.

This is a really rich color and smell. It seems fresh. It is very tasty. I use about 1/2 tsp in my smoothies. It is hard to taste, but if you were sensitive to such things, I think it might bother you if you did not like the taste of turmeric. I use it for the health benefits, so I ignore it. Seems like a quality product and I like that it is organic–whatever that means in that it is from India.

This is the only brand I use. Have been using their turmeric for years.

I did the water test on this and it passed with flying colors, so “apparently” I got the real deal. The only thing that concerns me is the possibility of heavy metals in this product (I have stricter standards than most). See the general guidelines for lead below
FRONTIER COOP: ≥1ppm (per sample)
Prop. 65: ≥0.5 ppm (MADL)
FDA: ≥10ppm (in a given product)
I commend this company for conducting testing on their products to ensure QAQC for health and safety, and I believe it makes them a better product in the end because so. I would recommend this product, but personally will only buy products with ND limits of heavy metals as their standard, in the future.
