Filters do not keep much kava out of drink. Directions suggest to stain again. Defeats the purpose of using these filter/shaker. There is another product like this and works %1000 better

I’ve been making Kava the old fashioned way by pounding out the root powder in a bowl. It’s messy and takes a lot of muscle to get it right. When I saw this product I had to try it out. The bottle and parts are all made of very durable plastic and metal. It has a good weight to it which really helps when shaking it. The Kava that I made with this was just as good, or better, than using the standard method. Overall, this is a really great and innovative product that excels at simplifying an otherwise tedious process.
The only reason it’s not getting 5 stars is because the process of getting the Kava into the pouch is very tricky. You insert a spring into the mesh pouch. Then you have to pry it apart and squeeze a spoon into the pouch between the spring. It’s not easy and it can get messy if you rush it. As you’re doing it you will be thinking, “there has to be a better way to do this”. Other than the loading process though, this thing is fantastic.

This does make a good brew…when it works. The resulting kava brew is definitely stronger than it’s mesh ball competitor, but it has issues.
The bottle leaked all over the place while shaking, so I just used a beefier bottle with the bag and spring/ball. After about a week, my bag started leaking root, and I needed to re-strain.
If they can fix the leaking and bag durability, this would be 5 stars.

Unfortunately my body doesn’t take Kava well but this makes a great protein shake mixer without the bag

Purchased after my Aluball broke. Not as convenient as Aluball, but a lot more convenient than using a strainer bag and kneading. Makes stronger kava than Aluball, and rivals kneading. I add 2tbsp of medium grind kava, 3/4cup warm water, and shake for 3 minutes. Makes a strong grog. Takes a couple minutes longer to reset compared to Aluball, but it’s just a small price to pay for stronger kava. Build is quality and durable; it’s a nice shaker bottle. No leaking, even when shaking with hot/warm water. Perfect size to shake; nice little hand, wrist, forearm workout. Used two days already, and love it. Great value price wise as well.

Great product! I put 2 tbps of kava in the baggie and it really makes it strong! I will say tho that you gotta make sure the zipper is fully closed. Even a little tiny opening will leak the bigger particles to go thru. Other then that, it’s really easy to clean and def not going back to the plastic ball with metal meshes anymore

I wish I can rate this higher. I love the concept, its innovative and effective. And more affordable to replace bags than the plastic aluballs which consistantly seperate from the screen. So it gets a plus for durability. Functionally this is great, quieter to shake and very effective at making kava.
Shaker bottle is a more reasonable size than the other one too, and a neat design. One drawback is it gets wide at the top, so you need big hands if you want to grip it while keeping a finger on the spout for security
The downsides are big though. It the kava leaks out of the bag a lot. I think its because the zipper inevitably opens just a drop. Im going to experiment with double bagging and putting this in a larger bag. Until I can solve that its only borderline usable.
The other issue is convenience, I havent figured iut a good way to load the kava wjthout spilling some powder. If I figure it out I’ll upgrade this to a 4.
