This is an Excellent and very helpful book. It brings an important focus to Empaths & why they attract Narcissists over & over. That is where I found myself in the last several years to the point it seemed everyone I was involved with was very Narcissistic. Okay I am getting it, I need to work on strengthening my Boundaries! Not too much info I have been reading focuses on the Empaths part in these relationships. This is so important to learn and think about. And there were many helpful tips on what to do if you find yourself repeating these types of relationships, recognizing the red flags before you get in deep, and how to get out if you find yourself there!
One thing I found was there is some duplication of material between pages 99 and 101 or 102, needs editing cleanup! I got confused and kept re-reading until I realized some material was put in twice.. Sadly I have misplaced this excellent book and that was as far as I got, page 102. I am sure it is around here somewhere and I will keep hunting for it as I am looking forward to reading the whole book! (Update: I found it—can’t wait to finish reading—the end always best part of book!!)

A close friend of mine is stuck in a relationship that’s clearly unhealthy, but it’s been hard to know how to support her without overstepping. This book gave me the insight I needed. It helped me understand what she’s experiencing and why it’s so hard for her to leave. I feel more equipped to listen without judgment and offer real support. It’s a relief to have language for what’s going on—and a path forward, even if it’s not mine directly.

I have a degree in Psychology and I have also been in a narcissistic relationship. If you’re wondering how this happens, this book will break it down into easily understood scenarios to help you recognize this behavior and set boundaries with the people who have narcissistic personalities.
Narcissistic personalities are highly manipulative, charming, and can change their identity depending on who they’re around and who they’re trying to manipulate. They are also difficult to get away from because when they can no longer control their focus, they will try to control how others see their focus.
The dynamic between empathic people and narcissistic people is ideal for the narcissist. When I started reading this, I expected it to be full of woo. Thankfully that isn’t the case. There is a lot of solid information here as well as a breakdown for dealing with narcissistic children, neighbors, co-workers, bosses, parents, etc.
I only gave it a 4 star rating because I think the author could have expanded the information a little more and some areas felt rushed, but otherwise it was an excellent read.

This is an excellent resource to delve into a relationship with a narcissist. Read the book cover to cover. Then, go back and highlight all the parts that pertain to you. Read those parts over and over. Don’t try to outsmart a narcissist, work on yourself instead!
