Louise Edington’s style is unlike many of the other astrology books I’ve collected. She writes as if she’s having a personal conversation with you, laying out the information in a way that keeps you turning pages long after your bedtime has come and gone. I’m excited to have stumbled across this book and author!

This book is great for LGBT especially gender non conforming astrology nerds, its not a beginners book id call it intermediate. Its not about mapping the chart its about interpreting charts that you’ve mapped online. The book does away with gendered language entirely and replaces it with “night and day”.

This Book is AMAZIN!!!! It gives a good foundation of Astrology, covers everything from the houses, signs, planets, placements, elements and modalities, to Dignities and Debilities, asteroids, both nodes, progressions, and even an insightful and fun section with a sun sign focused section on your Calling, and Love. She makes sure to indicate you have to look into house, planet, sign and aspect, basically the whole chart to make a deeper connection. One of my FAVORITE parts is she shifts away from gender norms and instead focuses on being inclusive, and replacing masculine and feminine with Day/Inhale/Yang for masculine because we inhale all the energy we need for our day, and Night/exhale/Yin for feminine, because we exhale and release at night and go inward until the next day. We need more of this in astrology. She has a minute section on shifting into a more culturally inclusive norm. We need more of that in Astrology too. Hopefully there will be more astrology books that do this and take it a step forward and be LGBTIQ+ inclusivity!!!!

It’s a little hard to comprehend sometimes and there’s a few moments I felt I couldn’t follow along like I wanted. I’m also some what knew to astrology and maybe that’s a factor, but some typos and mistypes definitely don’t help. But overall a good book jam packed with information if you can grasp it easily. I will read it again in more depth next time.

If you are just starting out learning astrology this is the perfect book. I was so confused by houses and aspects but this book breaks it all down in an easy way to understand. It is a great foundation and allows you to expand your knowledge by going over and explaining the fundamentals in a basic way.
That being said, after reading this book there is still a lot to learn. Some of the descriptions are a little too surface level. I wish it went more in depth about the signs and planets but these are all things that could probably take up an entire chapter individually, so it makes sense why it was just brief descriptions.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone just starting out.
