- This pendant is made of Russian Sugilite and hand wrapped in 14 gauge sterling silver wire.
- Sugilite is a relatively rare cyclosilicate of the Osumilite group, a potassium sodium lithium iron manganese aluminum silicate mineral. Its form is usually granular to massive, though rarely it forms in tiny prismatic crystals. It is named for Dr. Ken-ichi Sugi, a Japanese petrologist who discovered the first specimens in 1944 on Iwagi Islet, Japan.
- Sugilite is a rare purple mineral belonging to the cyclosilicate group. Its vibrant lavender-to-deep-violet color comes mainly from manganese. Sugilite forms in manganese-rich metamorphic and hydrothermal environments, where mineral-bearing fluids deposit layers of the stone over time. The finest-quality material comes from the Wessels Mine in South Africa, with smaller deposits found in Japan—where it was first identified—along with Canada and India. Because of its rarity, rich color, and smooth polish, Sugilite is highly sought after for jewelry and collector specimens.
- Size: 1 3/8″x 3/8″.
- I ensure that I only use real stones, therefore, each stone and silver wrap is a unique piece of artwork, no two pieces are alike. They are all unique and handmade by me. You can see more of my pendants here on Amazon. Just search Bellas Pendants/Isabella Roth. Silver chain not included.
