I’ve been taking Now Nutrition Psyllium Husk Fiber Powder daily for a few weeks and have been really happy with the results. It’s helped significantly with digestive regularity and overall gut comfort. I started small by taking a rounded teaspoon once a day with about 12 oz. of water mixing with an electric milk frother/stirrer. Once my body adjusted after a couple of days, I added another teaspoon later in the afternoon to another 12 oz of water. Now I’ve worked my way up to a tablespoon in the AM and another in the PM. I usually drink it right away before it thickens too much. You can definitely taste it; it has a mild, earthy flavor (almost peppermint-y flavor) but I don’t mind it at all. In fact, I kind of appreciate that it tastes like what it is: natural fiber with no artificial sweeteners or additives.
It does thicken pretty quickly once it’s mixed, which is normal for psyllium, so I recommend stirring briskly and drinking it immediately. I also make sure to follow up with another glass of water, which helps it move through the system and do its job properly.

Decided to try this out since pretty much everything else wasn’t helping, except laxatives. I haven’t been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease before, but I’ve had a few nurses and doctors tell me that I have based on symptoms and the fact that my injection medication for psoriatic arthritis is helping with symptoms. It really messes with my bowels, all the time. So finding something that helps move things along like they used to when I was a kid is very important to me. This fiber seems to help make things come out easier or with little effort, pass smoothly and cleanly, and most importantly more regularly.
I take a tablespoon usually in the morning with about 1 1/2 – 2 cups of water. I put it in dry at the bottom of my cup and then I use the sprayer on my kitchen faucet to spray it and mix it well. I’ll use the sprayer for about the first cup and then switch over to the regular flow setting on the faucet. It seems to mix it well, but you have to drink it fast. Otherwise, it will start to turn into a gel that gets stuck to the cup or becomes a clumpy mess. The other thing you can try is using a fork to mix it in a full two cups of water. That wouldn’t recommend any less if you’re putting a tablespoon of the fiber in. Some weeks I have to use more, depending on what I eat, but usually it’s about a tablespoon a day in the morning. By the next morning is when I typically have a bowel movement, sometimes in the middle of the day but not usually. So it makes it quite nice that I can wait till I’m home to have my “special moment”.
The drawbacks that it has is definitely that it will start to turn to a thick gel depending on how fast you drink it. And the taste reminds me of Wasa crackers. It’s kind of a woody flavor but there is really not much of a flavor to it. I have mixed it with cereal before, and I do not recommend it, lol. You need to drink it fast is the key. Just think of chugging water down when you’ve been out on a hot day and haven’t drank nearly enough water to be hydrated correctly. Just drink it quick and you’ll be fine.
It is the only stuff that seems to be working for me. I’ve tried everything that I could find. The only other thing that works for me is magnesium citrate or dulcolax, stuff like that. But for obvious reasons, it’s not recommended to you just flush out your system all the time. The psyllium husk seems to move through your body at a consistent speed.

Arrived in good condition. Pure psyllium, no additives. Had to ditch my flavored fiber drink due to citric acid aggravating my acid reflux. This is very bland, just what I needed.
Now for the hard part. I can’t get this stuff to dissolve in anything.
It turns into little globs and no amount of stirring will dissolve it. Tried a wire mixing utensil. No dice. It sticks to the spoon or mixing tool and only hot,hot water will remove it. It bonds to the glass or cup unless you drink it immediately. I must be doing something wrong. My other fiber powder doesn’t do this. I guess I’ll have to put up with this unless I find another non acid fiber powder that dissolves. Tastes foul like any unflavored psyllium. Seems to work ok to keep me regular.

Note: this has only 1 ingredient, psyllium seed and husk. That’s it. Yes it has a bit of an Earthy taste but that’s the point. If you want a sweeter taste, mix with juice. Other fibre powders have lots of sugar and citric acid etc to make them taste good. This doesn’t. But it works.

This is great psyllium husk powder. I purchased it after refusing to pay so much more for the popular “brand”. I wanted pure unflavored powder to void the sugars and artificial sweeteners found in the other “brand”. I had absolutely no problem mixing it despite what the bad reviews say. Apparently those folks don’t know how to mix psyllium powder. The trick is to measure out the desired amount in a glass first and fill it with cold water (no, the temp doesn’t matter). Then stir it vigorously. I add a squeeze of fresh lemon juice or honey to mine. I have never had issues with excessive clumping. Guys, this is psyllium husk powder and it will begin to thicken up as soon as you start to stir it. Don’t let it sit, drink it immediately. Enjoy the benefits of adding fiber to your daily diet.
