This is truly a beautiful rosary but heavy. Although, hematite and obsidian by properties alone are known to be dense and heavy. This rosary is a bit too heavy. The cord on which this rosary was strung broke due to the weight of the stones. I restrung the rosary with a denser, heavier weighted cord which is holding well. The crucifix split in half right down the center a week after I received it. The cut of the stone made it weak as well as the drill hole for the hook. It was drilled to deep which created the internal fracture and eventually spread to the surface of the cross. All gemstones and stones have pressure points as well as certain angles they should and should not be cut. Because hematite is magnetic it can never be repaired correctly and in fact, should not be attempted to repair at all. The two broken pieces will now repel themselves against each other as 2 separate magnetic stones. If in doubt, always refer to your jeweler or gemologist for answers.
