Imagine Heaven is an inspirational journey through the Bible’s picture of heaven, colored in with the real-life stories of heaven’s wonders. Burke compares gripping stories of NDEs to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will it look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets? This book will propel readers into an experience that will forever change their view of the life to come and the way they live life today. It also tackles the tough questions of heavenly reward and hellish NDEs. Anyone interested in NDEs or longing to imagine heaven more clearly will enjoy this fascinating and hope-filled book.

I don’t remember where I learned of this book….but since receiving it, I have not been able to put it down! Having read a number of books about “near death experiences”, I had a good understanding about the phenomena. However, this book weaves this knowledge into a wonderful spiritual tapestry that has brought me to a place of renewed faith and hope. This book will appeal to anyone – whether you’re on a spiritual path or not. I am happy that I found it!!!

This book is a fantastic read all around. It is hopeful, positive, and beautifully written. The author does a wonderful job of taking anecdotal near death experiences (NDE’s) and connecting what is said over many instances all over the world and throughout many distinct cultures to scripture showing how what all these people are experiencing has some backing in sacred writings of both the Old and New Testaments.
I have read and reviewed other books on NDE’s, and found this to be one of the best- especially if you are someone that really wants a literal scriptural backing in order to believe in the veracity of the claims. Burke does his research- and knows his Bible. He also cites many other leading NDE researchers that share similar conclusions- which I think is important to show he is not alone. His conclusions are down to earth- and he does well explaining exactly why he comes to that conclusion as well as why some of the popular explanations to debunk NDE’s such as the lack of oxygen or dying brain are really way more difficult to believe. He also includes phenomenal stories of visions of heaven of such people as Akiane Kramarik who in of herself is fascinating.
If you have any interest in NDE’s or just want a little boost to help your faith in what is to come while still doing your best in this struggling world- this book is wonderful. Happy to recommend!

This book is a God send. After our son died, it helped me heal. John Burke wrote it as an agnostic, so he had no bias to skew his research. Reading the amazing “near death” experiences of so many people brought me through an exceptionally tough time. I now know our son is at peace in the loving arms of Jesus. Thank you, John Burke.

Fascinating stories from both patients and physicians. The one thing that bothered me was the narrator’s attempt to use various voices as though it was a novel. It sounds silly in a nonfiction book and he doesn’t really do it very well.

Fascinating! The stories of people meeting Jesus Christ face-to-face and His pouring love out to them are the most wonderful and the most fascinating stories of the book. I’ve started buying copies for my friends and will be buying copies and leaving them on park benches, at the beach, etc with a note on them, “Finder’s Keepers!” That’s how good this book is.

Imagine Heaven didn’t just inspire me—it awakened something in my soul that I didn’t even know had been quietly longing for more.
Before reading it, my understanding of heaven was rooted in belief, but it still felt distant—almost like a promise I trusted but couldn’t fully feel. This book changed that. It didn’t just describe heaven; it revealed it in a way that stirred something deep within me, something eternal. The stories of near-death experiences, aligned with Scripture, felt less like accounts to analyze and more like glimpses behind a veil—reminders that what we see here is only a fraction of what truly is.
What moved me most was not just the beauty of heaven, but the overwhelming presence of love—pure, unconditional, all-encompassing love. A love that sees you completely and yet holds you without judgment. It made me realize how much of my life had been lived striving, worrying, and holding on to things that, in the light of eternity, simply don’t matter.
This book shifted my perspective in a profound way. It quieted my fears about death and replaced them with a deep sense of peace and even anticipation. It reminded me that we are not just physical beings having a temporary experience, but spiritual beings on a journey back home. That realization alone changed how I move through my days.
I find myself more present, more compassionate, more aware of the sacred in ordinary moments. Relationships feel more meaningful. Forgiveness feels more urgent. Love feels more important than ever. There is a new lens through which I see everything—a lens shaped by eternity rather than immediacy.
It also deepened my faith in a way that feels grounded, not forced. It didn’t just tell me what to believe—it invited me to feel it, to trust it, and to live differently because of it.
Imagine Heaven is not just a book—it’s an experience. It gently but powerfully reorients your heart toward what is eternal, what is true, and what ultimately matters. For me, it didn’t just change my thinking—it changed my spirit.

I can’t explain how life changing this book and John Burkes podcasts have been. I had so much uncertainty and fear surrounding death but also Matthew 22:30 gave a lot of fright to me and many I know. This book paints such a wholesome picture of Heaven and God’s love. Jesus Christ prepared a Holy , loving, and EXCITING place for us! This book gave a special sneak preview into the afterlife we can look forward to as we follow Christ. I ordered it for many people in my life. 1000/10

Wow! This book has opened my eyes and has explained questions I had about Heaven! It has brought me into a closer relationship with Jesus. Very well written with actual quotes from first hand experiences of people who have had near death experiences.
Happy customer –
This book is absolutely fantastic. At the beginning he absolutely gives total credibility to near death experiences and the fact that people have been to heaven and experienced life after death. He refers a lot to studies that have been done and scientific evidence that this is the case. It is an incredibly detailed and beautifully written book that doesn’t just give you near death experiences but also shares with you the love of god and what we have got to look forward to after we have died. It also makes it very clear what you have to do in order to get to heaven and it is wonderful that he talks about other religions and the near-death experiences they have had and the fact that all of them end up at Jesus. This book is a big thick book and is an absolutely amazing read. I am intending on buying my friends all a copy for Christmas in order to share the gospel with them and in order for them to see what is awaiting them after death. There is a section about hell which isn’t over the top but gives enough of a idea of what is to come if you are not a Christian which I think he’s incredibly important as Jesus did speak about hell. This is simply an amazing book and it was a joy to read. I am going to read it at least once more immediately and I will definitely read it repeatedly in the future. It also sparked me to buy all the books, unshockable love, evidence of the afterlife, Life After Life and and another book about life after death. I have always been fascinated with stories about people going to heaven and have several books written by people who died and went to heaven but this book is the piesta resistance as it it brings lots and lots of experiences of Heaven all together in one volume. I absolutely loved reading it.

Oh my my my. This is literally filled with personal acounts from another dimension. And its all Good News. Everytime I read from this book I pray to God to accept my repentance and forgive my sins, and I am re-motivated to spread the gospel far and wide. I dont care that I havent personally researched every NDE (Near Death Experience) to verify them, the author adds plenty of Biblical text that corroborates their stories. Period. And it has largely taken away my fear of death. It doesnt give us a complete picture about judgement day because these NDE’ers all have of course returned to us. But so what? God must have wanted us to know these things because He allowed it. Forgive me getting theological – just read it please. And pass it along as I already have.

I truly enjoyed reading about people’s NDE. It brings comfort to know all those I’ve lost are in heaven with each enjoying the Lords world and their forever home.

One of the best books I’ve read besides the Bible!

I’m more excited to go to Heaven than ever before, after reading this amazing synopsis of so many NDE experiences. I love the comparison of the experience to that of the description of Heaven in scripture. I feel like I know a more personal Creator than ever before.

I adored my first read through of this book. Read it whenever
you are discouraged. It will help you. It reminds you what really matters.

The best book I’ve ever read.
It helped me understand the afterlife better. I am catholic, but the afterlife and heaven always seemed to me too unbelivable. No matter how much I wanted to belive there was life after death, I’ve struggled to belive in it. And then last year, my grandpa passed away. He was my favorite person in the world & during his passing at the exact same time something undescribable happened and the signs afterwards, I just knew the afterlife exists.
I was dealing with depression, grieving, taking antidepressend and this book is the only thing that helped me cope with grief.
I just know, one day we’ll meet again.
This is the book I would recommend anyone to read.

This book is a must have. It is so comforting to hear the Near Death Experiences. So if you need some comfort after losing a loved one this book will truly help you. I know it helped me, even though I am a Christian. There’s something about hearing other people’s experiences that made me realize how Deeply that God loves us.
