The ginger powder is very aromatic and has excellent ginger flavor. It’s a little more mellow than fresh ginger, as ground ginger usually is, but still has some spicy kick. The powder is very fine textured and mixes well with other ingredients.

This is a pretty big bag of ginger! I’m usually not a huge fan of Hampton Distribution’s bags, as they are opaque, and I tend to like some transparency to see how many spices are left. But perhaps this type of bag keeps it fresh? Of course that is 100% opinion, but I felt the ginger was quite fresh! I’ve had a few different types of ground ginger, and they all really vary in freshness and taste. I felt this one wasn’t the freshest that I’ve had, but it tastes great, like pure dried and ground ginger with nothing extra.
I’m not a huge fan of the color, as it’s a little bit more on the brown/orange side, but as for taste, it was amazing; it really tasted like ginger.
I love that it’s resealable, especially for something that has this amount.
It also has a great scent when cooked or mixed in soups and it adds a spicy ginger flavor for your meal. You would definitely need to use a generous amount though compared to fresh ginger
Overall, a little pricey but might be a good price for this amount and good quality.

This ginger powder smelled and tasted very fresh right out of the container, which is always my first test with spices. The aroma is warm and slightly sweet with that classic spicy kick you expect from good-quality ginger.
It blends easily into both drinks and food. I’ve used it in tea, smoothies, and even mixed a bit into yogurt and oatmeal. It also works great in savory dishes like soups, curries, and stir-fries. The powder is fine and mixes smoothly without clumping, which makes it easy to use in wellness shots or baking recipes.
The flavor is nicely balanced. It has a warming heat but is not overpowering or bitter. A small pinch goes a long way, so you do not need much to add depth and character to a dish. It gives baked goods a cozy spice note and adds a subtle zing to sauces and marinades.
It’s also priced well for the quality you get. Considering how fresh it smells, how strong the flavor is, and how little you need per use, it feels like a very good value.
Overall, this is a versatile, good-quality ginger powder that tastes fresh, performs well in a wide range of recipes, and is reasonably priced. Definitely a solid pantry staple if you cook or make your own teas and health drinks.

Not as strong as need

As someone who loves messing about with exotic foods and recreating recipes I see online or television, I’ve grown to realize that there are “spices” and then there are “SPICES”. Those $2 dollar containers you get at the discount store will work in a pinch, but if you want to get the full impact of the transformative nature of spices, you gotta spend a little extra, but it actually isn’t as much as one might think, especially when you buy it in large quantities such as this 12.5 Oz resealable bag of organic Ground Ginger from Hampton Distribution.
This isn’t the first spice I’ve procured from these folks; I’ve got bags of Sumac, Greek Seasoning, Fenugreek, and even a tin of Saffron (that I literally use a strand at a time because it’s freakin’ expensive stuff but a little goes a long way!) from this particular seller and the quality and freshness is always excellent! This ginger is no exception!
As with their other spices, this ginger is packaged in a no frills resealable bag, ground to perfection, and extremely fragrant – so much so that I took a whiff and my eyes watered. lol. It’s really something to open up a fresh package of quality spices like this, and the closest thing you’ll get to actually pan toasting whole spices and grinding them yourself (which I love to do, especially with Indian spices!).
In terms of flavor, this is very pungent and spice forward and WILL numb the tongue. Ginger’s not one of those spices you eat raw – it’s a complimentary spice. This isn’t that sweet/spicy ginger you get served alongside your sushi – this is it’s most primal form, ready to be added to sauces, marinades, teas, and deserts to bring in that wholly unique and warming ginger flavor, and, in the case of this particular ginger, you will notice that less is definitely more. It’s much more potent than my shelf-staple ginger from McCormack, which I can sprinkle endlessly into an Asian marinade and not really ever feel like I’m going overboard. With this stuff, you may even want to cut back a little on the recipe’s suggested amount and then adjust to taste! This is the case with all organic, unprocessed spices like this, and you’ll learn to appreciate how much it actually saves you in the long run, especially seeing as how spices don’t really lose any flavor or aroma for up to four years so long as they’re stored correctly. And, with the amount you get here, you’ll easily still have some of this kicking around by then lest ye’ be using this in a restaurant or bakery! Around my house, ginger is regularly added to tea and Asian/fusion recipes, Jerk marinades/rubs, and, of course, gingerbread around the holidays, but even then I can’t imagine we’ll go through a fraction of this bag in a year!!
This is an excellent product and I highly recommend it and all of the Hampton products I’ve purchased.

Ground Ginger 12.5 Ounce Bag
The Perfect Kitchen Staple for Bold Flavor
I use ginger in almost everything from morning smoothies to evening stir-fries, and this 12.5 ounce bag has been a fantastic addition to my pantry. The first thing I noticed upon opening the resealable bag was the potent and fresh aroma. It has that sharp and spicy kick you expect from high quality ginger without any of the dullness that sometimes comes with older spice stock. The powder is very fine and incorporates easily into liquids and dry mixes alike. I particularly appreciate the bulk size because it is much more cost effective than buying those tiny glass jars at the local grocery store every other week. The resealable packaging actually works well and keeps the moisture out so the powder stays loose and fragrant over time. Whether I am using it for its health benefits in a hot tea or adding depth to a curry, the flavor is consistent and strong. It is a reliable product for anyone who cooks frequently and wants a spice that delivers on both value and intensity. I will definitely keep this brand on my list for future refills.

Nice bulk sized ginger powder. Would buy again.
Aroma and flavor are good/typical, comparable to McCormick to my taste buds. Was able to make some nice shredded tofu by combining this ginger powder with soy sauce, black vinegar, mushroom MSG, and sesame oil to make a sauce.
Quality seems decent – powder is fine and I haven’t noticed any discoloration, sand, etc. It was fine enough that I sneezed a bunch when I opened the bag because the dust went up my nose.
Note: I’m unclear if this is organic or not. In the details it says organic but the title and ingredient list do not say organic. I wish that would be clearer. Also, I was concerned about possible heavy metals but did not see a prop 65 warning, so it seems this product is safe to use.
I think the value is good (I got the 12.5oz bag) and generally it’s cheaper to buy in bulk sizes than small bottles. Glad the bag is resealable — very convenient. I don’t have any complaints other than the confusion about whether it is organic or not.

I love having ground ginger in my pantry because more often not… (okay 99% of the time), I will not have ginger around or often go to an asian grocer where I much prefer to get it over western ones… whatever the case… having ground ginger is such a lifesaver when the recipe calls for ginger but I don’t have the fresh ones around. Also, as someone who dislikes having to process fresh ginger (from getting the skin off, to mincing it effectively), having ground ginger is SUCH a huge convenience. This provides great value, still tastes fresh and great, and is great quality. The size of the particles is what I would expect from ground ginger. Be sures to keep it well sealed to keep the freshness factor.
