I mix this with bird seed to keep the Squirrels away. It is partially effective, however it is also the best found to date. (I’m still looking)

This Cayenne has the most flavor of any that I’ve purchased. It is hot, so beware, do not to have any on your hands then wipe your eyes because you’ll regret the day you were born if this happens. How do I know this, well, I had the privilege of testing out this theory myself. My wife, after laughing at my luck did the very same thing the next day. She swears her face went numb too. Anyway, for anyone looking for a hot cayenne pepper powder this is a must buy! I love peppers and this fits the bill! We use this on chicken before we fry it. We dredge it in cayenne pepper then into flour. It makes the very best spicy chicken ever! We use it in chili too. Heck we use it in almost everything. I love how it’s packaged into two bags. I keep mine in an air tight container to keep it fresh. We use so much of it that it never has a chance to go bad. This is definitely the best money saving way to purchase a quality cayenne pepper powder. Many people container it in air tight containers then put it in the fridge. I’ve personally never done this. I’ve always heard that it helps maintain the life of the spice. I’ve also heard many people state they use this as a cat, dog or wild animal deterrent. I personally would never use this in that way as I find that kinda cruel and a waste of a good product.

First off I thought I ordered 2 bags that equaled out to 1lb but was pleasantly surprised that it was actually 2 1LB bags for a total of 2LBs of surprisingly hot and flavorful cayenne. The stuff in the grocery store is reportedly 30,000 SKU or less and this powder knocks what I have bought in the past, out of the park.
I bought this mainly for cayenne’s rich health benefits and am making a tincture with it as well as eating 3tsps a day. Cayenne pepper especially at 90,000 SKU can really help lower your blood pressure, improve circulation, stop profuse bleeding, gives energy, increases metabolism, can stop a heart attack in its tracks, and many other benefits. Google it if you don’t believe it, some see it as one of the most beneficial foods to cook with and have in your house. Anyways enough homeopathic babble…..
Bottom line is this stuff has GREAT flavor much better than other store bought kinds I have purchased and really packs the heat! I put half a table spoon in my chicken noodle soup as I have done in the past with store bought brands and boy did I regret it haha if you don’t have a heat tolerance and are taking this as a daily supplement I would suggest starting with 1/8 of a tea spoon in 8ozs of warm water and working your way up to 1 tsp 3 times daily for max effects. In comparison to fresh pepper heat I would rather nibble down a habanero or Thai dragon chili both ranking around 100,000 SKU than a table spoon of this stuff like I did in my soup, not to say its bad cayenne but just that a little powder goes a long ways and that’s what makes this such a GREAT deal!
If you are looking to spice up dishes, watch out for your health, or use it for any number of other uses then this is the cayenne for you. This stuff is HOTTTT and you will not be disappointed or find a hotter cayenne pepper powder for this price on Amazon!

I’ve recently gone on a health kick. One of my new regimens is taking cayenne pepper on a daily basis. I knew the small grocery store containers wouldn’t be very economical for my purpose and had also read that the hotter the pepper the better so I went straight to Amazon. Of all of the different offerings I found, this one seemed to be the best deal. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I ordered it but was pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It came in two separate mylar bags of 1lb. each. The bags aren’t resealable so I had to put it into another container. I found that one bag fits perfectly into a 1 quart Mason jar. I will say that taking cayenne pepper all by itself is not an easy thing to do, but I’m getting used to it. It helps that this pepper has an excellent flavor. It’s not all heat. So, whether you are using it in a recipe, making your own hot sauce or taking it as a daily supplement, I think you will be satisfied with the flavor and heat of Frontier’s ground chili peppers. And the price is hard to beat.
For those of you who are new to taking cayenne pepper as a daily supplement or are considering it, here’s my experience: The first time I tried it I used 1tsp. in 8oz. of warm water as a sort of tea as I had read on several different natural health forums. I found that it was way too hot for me and 8oz. of it was a lot more than I could make myself drink. My next attempt was 1tsp. dumped on the back of my tongue and washed down with plenty of cold water.. around 16oz. I found that this was bearable, but that a full teaspoon was a lot to swallow. Much of it fell to the side between my cheek and gums… not pleasant. I have since reduced the amount to 1/2tsp and found this to be optimum for me. Surprisingly, there were no ill affects such as heartburn or reflux for me and have read that it will cure stomach ulcers. My only warning is not to take it on an empty stomach. My wife did that the first time she tried it and I’m not sure if I’ll ever get her to try it again.

I am a consumer of extremely hot food and spices (habs and jolokia). I don’t have anything to measure the heat units, but I can tell you that is is what is says it is. I am using this product to make my own cayenne pepper supplements. Because of the excellent quality and taste, I will now also be using it to spice my dishes. The only problem that I see is that the country of origin is not listed on the product. ???? China???? This is why I only gave it 3 stars. If it listed the country of origin (and it were not that of China) I would definitely give the product 5 stars without hesitation. Also, the flavour is very pleasant, somewhat fruity as opposed to the standard bland taste of cayenne.

I know. Many people use it to get rid of pests. I very hot and spicy foods and adding this powder in my Food is so delicious! I recommend this to people who like very spicy food for you. Can add it to any food or dish and it doesn’t take away the flavor of your dish. I even put it in my coffee and it was sweet, etc. and yet spicy, this doesn’t take away the flavor of any of your foods or drinks.

I do not need two pounds of flaming hot cayenne pepper, but I bought that much anyway. All the cayenne pepper offered in the stores is typically no more than 30,000 HU (and costs a lot), and I wanted the 90,000 HU for the possible health benefits, as well as for a variety of recipes. I love making something I like to call, “flaming hot chocolate” (cayenne stirred into some hot chocolate)- great for blustery cold winter days.
This product comes in two, 1 pound freshness keeping Mylar bags. The expiration date is a few years out, but if concerned, I recommend that one bag is stored in the fridge or freezer immediately (or cool, dark place) if you are using it at home as a seasoning or as a supplement. It is just going to take a long while to get through each 1 pound bag. Then the bag you do open, maybe portion some out into a smaller container, and once again store the remainder in either a cool dark place, or fridge (or freezer). Just for ease of use, I portion out into a smaller container as it is just too much to be taking a tiny amount out of a big bag each time I want some pepper (also, exposing product to air over and over).
That being said, spices don’t really expire. They might lose some flavor, but they don’t go bad. They might lose some potency, but they don’t go bad. So you’re good. At 90,000 HU this will still be flippin’ hot 7 years from now (I would know, I have not finished my 2 pounds of this cayenne pepper yet, bought in 2012!).
I love Frontier products, and appreciate that they offer so many spices in bulk, non irradiated.

I’ve always used cayenne in my cooking, but this is the first time I purchased the 90k unit. Wow, is this hot. A little goes a long long way. I purchased this 2 pack back in May of 2012, and I still have almost a full pack left! One other benefit, for those not aware, is that you can make your own cayenne capsules (I use vegcaps) and if you ever feel any type of discomfort in your heart or chest, or high blood pressure, you can take a capsule and it is perhaps the best natural remedy. Some doctors say that it will stop a heart attack in progress, within seconds. I hope it never comes to that, but I do like to have some cayenne capsules on hand. I trust the ones that I make at home to be fresher and more potent than the ones you might buy at the health-food store. Anyway, great product. Next time, for cooking purposes, I might ease up and just get the 30k kind, as that is the kind I always used to get, as it is much more tolerable as far as cooking goes. Then again, due to my age (60), I do want to be prepared in case of health emergencies. At any rate, just use a tiny amount for cooking, probably a 1/4 teaspoon (or less) for an average size pot of whatever, unless you like your food so hot that it brings tears to your eyes.
