Dr. Michael Newton, best-selling author of Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, returns with a series of case studies that highlight the profound impact of spiritual regression on people’s everyday lives.
Edited by Dr. Newton, these fascinating true accounts from around the world are handpicked and presented by Life Between Lives hypnotherapists certified by the Newton Institute. After recalling memories of their afterlife, the people in these studies embarked on life-changing spiritual journeys―reuniting with soul mates and spirit guides, and discovering the ramifications of life and body choices, love relationships, and dreams by communing with their immortal souls. As gems of self-knowledge are revealed, dramatic epiphanies result, enabling these ordinary people to understand adversity in their lives, find emotional healing, realize their true purpose, and forever enrich their lives with new meaning.

I found this book fascinating and informative. That being said I don’t know what to think about it. Well worth the read.

I have read all Newton’s major books which have been fascinated and very helpful in giving new insights especially in regard to in-between lives. Having personally experienced non-stress related out-of-body and white light experiences such research has re-enforced and expanded my understanding.
I was hoping to find satisfactory answers to some questions that all my life have caused me much heartache despite all my readings still do not make sense even in the big picture and continue to go unanswered:
1. What purpose does it serves individuals who die suddenly or from indiscriminate natural “disasters?
2.Prior to having the ability to learn from the experience in their present lives why do the very young suffer and die?
3. Since animals do not have free will as humans and live mostly by instinct, what purpose does their suffering serve?
…And why would a compassionate creator allow a natural system of carnivores/predators causing so much ongoing stress, fear and suffering in the animal kingdom?
4. Why do so many people with so much talent and skill find themselves in circumstances with little opportunity to use those special abilities to make this a better world…Why do not the spirits not work along side us for the greater good rather then allow us to become so discouraged and allow others of greed and cruelty to continue to dominate and decimate our planet?
5. Why does prolonged suffering occur amongst animals …how could they be learning anything to further there spiritual evolvement since unlike man they are instinctual beings without free will ?
6. It seems that“lessons” can often be so hard, and or prolonged as to severely traumatized a person and loved ones causing understandable bitterness and regression, especially when earthbound the reasons are unfathomable yet still not revealed to them, which seems counter-productive and cruel ? Christ knew with certainty where he came from, his purpose and where he was going and why he was being crucified while God in spirit by his side, giving much needed comfort and fortitude etc. …so why not the rest of us ?
7. Childhood would seem waste of time rather then starting at a mature age or where one left off from their last incarnation. Children being more prone to engage in abuse (…and further bad karma) cause unnecessary suffering, especially toward the defenseless such as animals?
It would be a great relief as well as remove a substantial hindrance to my spiritual progress if any anyone could answer these questions as specifically as possible or give me references to some text that does, or if unable to ask someone appropriate during your hypnotic therapeutic questionings who could, such as a spiritual guide which if published would be of great interest and worth to others as well.
Thank you such much for your time and considerations,
Brad Kalita
“Sum greater than parts”:
The multi-faceted elements of human beings as a whole may be more comprehensible to make a comparison to the facets of water.
Water is probably the most wondrous of substances having several distinct forms/properties depending the environment: Solid, liquid and vapor.
Solid State…which we know well. Humane similarities in liquid state: Potential to let go, and just flow…exampfied by the wise elder who fell into a raging river
surviving by not struggling and exhausting himself but rather flowing over the rapids until reaching calmer waters.
Vaporous State …ethereal/spirit state, as in transcending or “passing over.”
In scientific terms; Matter and energy never lost but transformed …“having continually evolving integrative emergent qualities”.
Such deductions may be comforting as well as enlightening since they coincide with laws of physics, thereby lending fascinating possibilities to human transformative potential.
Life after Life based upon personal and thousands of documented case studies:
Evidence: Those experiencing an“Out-of-body” often see/report things that they couldn’t possibly have seen/known.
Core experiences independent of pre-religious etc. beliefs.
Very young unaculterated children have same experience as adults.
Contrary to claimed as stress induced, experiences are often situationally non-threatening spontaneous events.
“The Unified Field”: Before returning earthbound “Near-Deaths” are often met by loves ones and animals experiencing surroundings of luminous radiant harmony and great beauty.
Any questions/concerns are satisfactory answered telepathically, then consciously deleted.
A detailed review is made of ones life during a wonderful restful period prior to corrective co-strategy…including race, gender, planet etc. for next incarnation.
For teaching progressive/evolvement purposes unless prior reconciled, abuses inflicted are likewise experienced.
“Ye shall do even greater things” – Jesus: Through further effort, varied life situational experiences and resulting acquired wisdom,
eventually an ultimate magnificently blissful eternal multi-dimensional state of incredible opportunities and abilities is achieved.

It’s time, I think. to consider the question of the evidence of reincarnation. There are two main bodies of evidence, spontaneous memories and evoked memories (both well summarized in “Lifecycles: Reincarnation and the Web of Life” by Christopher M. Bache). Spontaneous memories are the accounts of young children who remember pieces of previous lives and are able to recognize people they have never met and and towns they have never visited. Ian Stevenson is the most prolific of the researchers in this field having documented hundreds of cases in numerous countries. A fascinating recent entry is “Soul Survivor” by Andrea & Bruce Leininger telling the story of their two year old son remembering his previous life as a World War II pilot shot down in the Pacific. Evoked memories are memories most frequently elicited by hypnotic regressions of the type described in “Memories of the Afterlife”. By now there are thousands of mutually reinforcing case histories. Michael Newton’s work is a major contribution to this evidentiary pillar.
If you examine all this evidence dispassionately, you might well wonder why reincarnation has not been embraced by the scientific community and society at large as accepted fact. The main reason seems to be that from early on, it was strongly suppressed by organized religions as a threat to their exclusive agency of the divine. As an example, Christianity excluded reincarnation from its orthodoxy at the Fifth Ecumenical Council in A.D. 553. It seems that this discouragement has cast a long shadow across the centuries.
Michael Newton has built his career concentrating on what happens after we die and before we are re-born, the Afterlife. In his newest book, he introduces us to some of the many therapists he has mentored, giving them an opportunity to demonstrate their skills and showcase some of the amazing cases they have encountered. The subtext of this book is that there are now competent LBL therapists in many parts of the world, whose competence is vouchsafed by the master. And that once again, as we saw in “Journey of Souls” and “Destiny of Souls”, the range and depth of healing and growth facilitated by this modality are truly impressive and, not to mince words, astounding.
So Newton introduces us to his lineage of therapists who work with his imprimatur. They are an impressive group, but he has not cut them loose and abandoned them. One of the best features of this book is the footnotes that Newton has appended to each of the cases presented, which elaborate some of the themes and refer us to more extensive material in his previous works. Thus the current cases can be viewed as adding bricks onto an existing conceptual structure. This is an elegant touch.
Finally, I want to acknowledge Michael Newton for being a courageous pioneer in a field with a heavy religious and societal headwind and a most generous mentor, who has graciously introduced us to a talented new generation of LBL therapists.

PROS
* A fast read, easy to read in small chunks
* A lot of case studies reviewed
* Footnotes reference Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls (both by Newton)
CONS
* Case studies very short, not discussed in depth
* Inconsistent writing styles
This book is good, but not as good as Michael Newton’s other books on the topic (linked in second “pro”). In his other books he goes in depth into each person’s case study, but in this book the case studies are very cursory, taking only about 5 pages each. It leaves me wanting more. Also, each case study is written by a different psychologist, so they are in different writing styles, not all as good as another.
I would recommend this but would recommend his other books first. Start with Journey then read Destiny, the order in which they were written. If you think you’re only going to read one then read Destiny of Souls. I thought it was the most fun to read.

In Michael Newton’s first two books, Journey of Souls: Case Studies of Life Between Lives and Destiny of Souls: New Case Studies of Life Between Lives, you get to witness his ground-breaking discovery of the existence we live between lives. Through many case studies, Dr. Newton paints a vivid picture of life between lives, shattering many commonly-held beliefs about the nature of God, the Universe and our reason for being.
As editor of Memories of the Afterlife: Life Between Lives Stories of Personal Transformation, he continues the journey but this time through the efforts of 32 experienced practitioners from all over the planet who completed their training at the Michael Newton Institute. Their stories are no less fascinating as they enhance the credibility of the earlier works by repeating and reinforcing this shared glimpse of the afterlife. The case studies represent a variety of life situations, all with the powerful life-changing insights that can only be gained by remembering who you truly are, why you came here and with whom you are sharing the ride.
Although certainly not a pre-requisite, if you haven’t read Journey/Destiny of Souls I recommend you do so as these classics will explain things in a bit more organized and detailed fashion and will help fill in the blanks. MEMORIES OF THE AFTERLIFE is more unfettered and assumes at least a passing belief in life between lives rather than trying to prove it. I found it to be an excellent complement although it surely stands on its own as a fascinating read full of information and insight. I also found an interesting phenomenon absent in the earlier books – that you can get direct guidance about present situations from the LBL world while seemingly experiencing past events, showing that our concepts of past and present really don’t extend beyond our limited physical reality.
If you are stuck in the belief that you have one life in which to get it right and then it’s either heaven or hell for eternity, then this book probably isn’t for you. If you are open to a belief in multiple lives (along with the majority of people on this planet), then I highly recommend this book as it will help shed some light on the age-old quest regarding the nature of our immortality.

Several things in particular I’m struck by in these very interesting case studies from all over the world: (1) The very versatile LBL (life between lives) practitioners throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and beyond who have studied at the Newton Institute seem to all be well-trained and integritous; (2) seeing/feeling the common threads in the experiences lend a lot of validity to the process and the experiences; (3) The case studies/stories of between life regressions are both intriguing and comforting. In many of the stories I am finding similarities and potential answers to questions about circumstances in my own life and person/personality — at the very least I am given a way to look at myself and certain tendencies, issues and challenges in a different light; (4) The importance of soul-awareness and the many lives of the soul are well-supported here and in all Newton’s books, and I’m impressed that he did this work for 30 years before “rushing to publish!”; (5) The experiences of so many diverse people supporting the concept of self-evaluation in the eternal power and presence of love is a welcome alternative to the “original sin” and “heaven or hell” dogmas of traditions that have kept humanity hostage for millenia.

The chapters are all individual cases of past life regressions with details.
I found the last chapter to be fascinating. It involved a woman that was basically amnesiac.
The notes at the end of the chapters were educational and helpful.
This book is edited well and a good read if you have an interest in the soul and spirit world.

I think this book might have been a little confusing if I had not read Michael Newton’s first two books, “Journey of Souls” and “Destiny of Souls”, but as a follow up to those, it was fabulous. The whole concept of a life between lives and reincarnation is not part of mainstream, traditional Christianity, so I was quite skeptical when my aunt handed me “Journey” after the death of a relative. When I read it, however, I realized that in fact, there was no conflict at all with Christianity, but it explained a lot of things that had never made sense to me, and there was a real ring of truth to it all.
At the end of reading both books, and now “Memories”, my conclusion is that if it is not true, no harm is done by thinking about it, but if it is true, which I believe it is, then it completely changes my view of why I am here, and greatly reduces a lot of the stress in my life. I have recommended the first two to most of my friends, which has led to fascinating discussions, and I will definitely recommend “Memories” as well…GREAT book!

I did not think I would like this book as much as I have enjoyed earlier works (“Journey of Souls” and “Destiny of Souls”) – but I did. Perhaps even more.
I have no doubt that some would find this book beyond the pale, and many would doubt the premises raised in those earlier works, and for such readers I would advise you not to buy this book. On the other hand, what you find here is a series of snapshots taken from trained practitioners in LBL (Life Between Lives) hypnotherapy, each example annotated by Michael Newton with footnotes referring to three earlier books for reference.
The events were fascinating, and encouraging, provided you had read the previous books. I suspect that if you came here ignorant of those earlier works, you would find this a little fragmented, but still enjoyable. Speaking for myself, however, I found the examples interesting, showed how varied the style of therapist could be, opened up a broader picture of events that were described in that true home of the soul and – for me most importantly – gave a deeper understanding of how I could relate to those events in my life which found a mirror in these stories. I feel that my attitude to the vagaries of life has been influenced, improved and mellowed as a result of looking at the sequence of my life through different eyes.

Having read Newtons JOURNEY OF SOULS followed by DESTINY OF SOULS I wondered if there could possibly be any new materials in MEMORIES OF THE AFTERLIFE. Much to my delight there is! It is an excellent read that goes deeper into the the topic of life between lives through several fascinating case studies. I found it very nicely top and tails the first two books.
UPDATE: I visited a Michael Newton trained past life regression therapist and – over 2 days – regressed to the final day of 3 of my past life’s. My last life, I discovered, was as a US marine in the Pacific War where I witnessed being killed in action. Before that a farmer (I passed away whist standing in a field) and prior to that in Austria ( I died after jumping off a waterfall and saw my own funeral in an Apline town) 3 outdoor deaths! I also experienced what Newton terms the life between life’s and as a consequence can understand many of the directions my life has taken down here. Everyone’s experience is unique but for me reading these books has been a life changing experience.
